It’s Me In A TuTu!

Just Kidding!

I shot Andrea today and I had her mom Audrey working  hard as my assistant.  They’re both hard working, fun and appreciative so it’s great to have both of them in the studio.  They bake, bring lunch and even call to see if I’m hungry before a shoot.  That puts them on the fast track for testing!

I ran across this ballet outfit buried in my racks and made the joke that I was going to pose in it!  After shooting the first look Andrea mentioned she wanted to wear it… sure why not.  We had planned on a typical crown but I found this great custom made hat $$$ and walking stick.

I shot BTS video but it’s gotten late and I don’t have time to render and upload tonight.  I’m not a portrait photographer but was going for more of that look.  I shot this with a small white shoot through umbrella as the main, totally out of the norm for me.  Large diffused strip for fill, 20 degree grid in a 7″ reflector for the background.  I want to practice smaller light sources on the models and do more portrait looking images with models.

The hardest thing to do as a beginner is using small light sources, but it’s well worth it.  It’s amazing what you can do with just cheap umbrellas.

I’m not big on actions but knew I wanted something more dreamy for this.  I used Kalif Banane cross coloring 1.1 light run twice and then used the the action set called Rather large set of actions by Rocket Launch called blue-pink contrast.  Both of these actions are free on deviantART.  (Humm, looks like there’s some serious banding in the background).  Gotta watch those hard hitting actions.

Ok, it has been a whole week, Mary has gone off the grid again. I hope she is getting some rest! Mary?

Looks great. Nice image you started with and cool final result. (a little pun) I love your stuff. You are one of the few photographers I regularly check on.
