Detroit MI Fashion Photographers

Detroit Fashion Photographers Mary DuPrie

So once I kind of put something to bed or feel like I have a handle on things the next item pops up on my list.  This week it’s twitter and facebook!  Yep, I’m taking the plunge.  I’m going to spend my time investigating all the ins and outs of social media.

I started a group at www.meetup.com/photographingmodels/ which I thought would be a perfect vehicle to promote with social media.  A fun little get together for photography  and a wee bit of partying.

I don’t plan on announcing I had a turkey pastrami with swiss on grilled rye and mayo from Tony’s Deli for lunch or that my new favorite TV show is An Idiot Abroad, hilarious!

I’m using HootSuite (barely) because you enter it in once and it sends it out to whatever streams you’ve created.  You can even time your tweets.  Tacky?  You can  track phrases that are of interest to you;  your name, your business name, your competition… whatever.

**********

I watched a great Seth Godin video on Ted today that was interesting.  Ted has some great business videos if you’ve never checked them out, most are on the cutting edge of what’s going on.

I’ve also set up a Facebook Fan page, (I think that’s what it is) I just know it was really hard and confusing to set up.

How do you approach Social Media so it doesn’t look like you’re just trying to pimp yourself out all the time?  It kind of feels like shouting to me.  Look at me, look at me!.

Any tips would be great!  What should I do?  How should I do it?  How do you use Social Media?  What seems to work to promote your business without seeming obnoxious!?

Hey Paris…
HootSuite is great… but I’m struggling with all the SM stuff

Sorry no new videos… if i do anything new it will be for creating your own custom backgrounds, I hope that sounds appetizing!?

Oh Mary,….we’re facebook friends and I always envy you for NOT posting about your pastrami sandwiches, so I hope HootSuite keeps takes care of a lot of the social media for you. I need to check that out; I just can’t get my head around all of the social media because it takes so much away from the real work, but I know I need to do more.

On another note…do you have any recent videos on lighting, not modeling? (or both together). As much as I’m still trying to get to one of your workshops, logistically it’s been a bit hard (I’m in FL).
