Breadcrumbs Along The Way

Detroit Michigan Comp Card Photography by Mary DuPrie

Wannabee model Cashoo doing her thing… mooching in on a photo shoot

I was booked for a comp card type shoot for a non model today… humm

Breadcrumbs along the way told me to pass.  We all have gut feelings about certain shoots but chalk it up to the client not understanding the industry.  I don’t feel it’s my job to educate them on every nuance on how our industry works versus the portrait world.  Portrait studios are looking to make money on the back end.  Model photographers make most up front because clients are not ordering prints for Mom & Dad, Grandma and Aunt Sophie.

My canceled shoot said he wasn’t going to pay anything at the end of the day… humm.  Would never pay upfront.  There were other issues but I think it all boils down to a case of nerves .  It seemed I was being asked to prove myself every step of the way.  My images do the talking for me.

Sometimes I like to see if I can win someone over… but I actually don’t think it’s a good idea.  I’m going to start listening better.

Just walk away.

Love this, Mary. Love your use of the louvered doors with the impression of daylight and blue sky out the window. As for Cashoo….well…you know what I think of her. I think she digs me, too. ; )
