Oh, And One More Thing

Detroit Michigan Modeling Portfolio Photography by Mary DuPrie

Well it’s been a trying day today.  My goal was to finish my glamour info and pricing… fail.  Well I didn’t exactly fail but my flipping book failed.  Wouldn’t work at all.  We’re speculating that perhaps it was originally made for windows and somehow has problems with Mac.  Boohoo.  It’s really put me behind and I’m not happy about it.  I have a workshop this weekend and wanted to put this to bed before then.  I’m now just making pdfs to send out.

The only pdf I’ve ever made is for contact sheets for the agencies.  I make 12″x18″ sheets with 20 images on them for the bookers to look over.  The bookers at the agencies I shoot for will not go to a web gallery to choose for the talent.  I have to say I don’t blame them. I’ve been making them in bridge and was told I should do them in Acrobat Professional.  What!?  Another program to learn… please not today, I can’t take it.  My brain is going to explode.

It was explained why it would be a good idea and that it’s fairly simple so I decided to take a stab at it tomorrow.  Adobe Acrobat Professional… here I come!

I also discovered I did my shoot on Saturday in low jpg mode.  Crap.  We changed my camera over to jpg only mode in Brazil so they would pop up on their screen faster.  I will have to offer a reshoot to cutie pie Jordon but I’m sure they won’t mind having another fun day.  Jordon is a fabulous 11 old that was a “natural”.  It would actually be enjoyable to shoot  with her again.  I haven’t told them about it yet.  It’s a good news, bad news kinda thing.  I’ve never had to offer a reshoot because of a technical fault on my part, this is the first time.  This was such an easy breezy shoot, if it had to happen this was the perfect shoot for it… yes she’s 11.  Feelin like a dope, kinda sorta, not really.

As you might know I’m a television listener/watcher while I’m working and I usually have Pandora radio on at the same time.  Our industry is drastically changing but we’re not alone.

Television use to hire trained actors, years of devotion and sacrifice to land a scarce Television role.   I can hear all the trained actors in Hollywood sitting around complaining because they now have shows called PARKING WARS.  A show about traffic enforcement officials pounding the pavement  giving out parking tickets and the people who want to kick their ass!

Anyone with an idea can have a TV show nowadays… sounds familiar

OUTRAGE!

PS  ohhh, I have uber cool square box thingies at the end of my post… very nice, thanks Erick!
